">"> Common Sense: A Lost ArtI was just wondering when, exactly, so many people have lost their ability to use common sense! After all, we are all born with it, are we not? Indeed, it seems these these days some people simply can not think for themselves and are unable, or unwilling, to depart from the procedure. In other words, if they do not have clear instructions in the press on how to handle a case, they are simply refusing to put in the effort to find a good action to be taken, or, better yet, to just use that old reliable pillar of the free-thinking any person -- common sense. "Almost every day I hear more ridiculous examples of decisions made by people who can not think for themselves, can not get off the beaten track, or (worst of all) are told by employers or others what they should think. Scary, huh? But perhaps not as frightening as some of the decisions they make on behalf of others. Here are some examples that I have heard just in in the last week here in the D! allas area. And I am sure that oh-so-much more! A young man in McKinney, Texas, just north of where I live, has recently discovered he has a form of cancer that would eventually take his life, probably sooner than later. He and his wife came to the decision that they wanted to move their family back to Utah, where they come from, so that the wife and children will be with their family after the husband is gone. They had lived in a beautiful apartment in a complex high-end and had a few months left on their current lease. After informing the director of the apartment of their intentions " go to the family, and because of that, they were informed that they would not be held responsible for the remainder of the lease, but for several thousand dollars in fees and penalties. I can not have the figures accurate, but I believe the total they were required to pay the management company property has been more than nine thousand dollars, of which less than half was for the remainder ! of the lease. Also, they allegedly were also charged with back! -seventy dollars for a credit they had been given earlier when a water leak was repaired in their apartment. This is not only absolutely ridiculous, but also very small. Why could not be verified manager in the history of man and then lift the additional fees and penalties. T he not have enough problems to solve without being harassed by these people? Instead, he said it was the proper procedure set by the management company property and they could not make exceptions. Incredible! At Dallas, a high school student who received a call during school hours on his cell phone and was subsequently suspended of the school to break the violation of the non-use of a cell phone during class. Now, let me say that I am the first in line to say that I do not think cell phones should be allowed in classrooms in the first place. there is too much potential problems, and not enough good excuses for having cellphones in the classroom. In case of emergency, students can still be achieved very quickly ! by calling in school and have a message to the student, the same way they did when we were in school. however, the call has been received that a student of his father who was on active duty in Iraq , and who obviously knew that her son was at school. example, with the extreme difference in time between Iraq and Dallas, and probably have little opportunity to make an appeal to his son, he took the floor at this time. why the teacher could not afford to take the call, go out of the room so as not to disrupt the rest of the class and explain why he or she has taken the decision to allow the student to take the floor when it is against the rules. I think the teacher would have earned the highest respect of the class because the other students are probably very familiar with the situation of the student in the father is in Iraq, and how that appeal could well be the last time he ever spoke to his father. Sometimes, a very small amount of effort will bring you to make the right d! ecision if you just open your mind. Regrettably, it seems far ! too many people are not willing to make the effort.Lastly, a couple of points of light on traffic cameras in the intersections. I do not know whether they are used in other countries, but many here cities in the states put cameras in busy intersections to take pictures of drivers who run lights. Drivers are stiff fines then mailed, with photographic evidence of wrong-doing. hard to plead innocence if you caught on film! Anyway, several cities, including Dallas, were recently captured shortening of the period during which the yellow light is still on, causing more people to run the light and have to pay the heavy fines, generating more revenue for the city. I did not even have to say what a brilliant idea this is stupid, since it could cause serious injury or death from drivers being struck at high speed through the intersection. Also, in Dallas, some cameras have become so managed to arrest offenders that they are no longer generating revenue for the city, but it is costing the city! more money to maintain and operate the cameras. Therefore, in the worst case, indifference to the safety and well-being of others that I have never heard, the powers-that-be in Dallas have decided to discontinue the use of cameras in the intersections, and have reduced significantly in terms of Futures cameras in other intersections. Silly me, I thought that the municipal council had the best interests of its citizens in mind when they took the decision to reduce the number of people who pass through fires carelessly. And all the while it was just another sophisticated system to generate more money on the backs of those same citizens. Maybe I had to use my common sense.By: Matt SpeakArticle-Directory: http://www.articledashboard.commatt-speak.blogspot.com/
